Lately Ive had a bunch of guys asking for the old Delrin line of calls I made for years and discontinued a few years ago. I stopped making them because I just didnt have the time to devote to them. I use my personal set all the time and got to thinking maybe I could bring some of them back just for kicks, but in a different form that made more sense to build for the price point I was after.
So, I got to tinkering in the shop the other day and decided that I still enjoy working with the plastic stuff, and maybe I could bring these calls back on a limited basis, so I made a few prototypes just to knock the rust off. I decided that I would use my handpoured toneboards assembled into a machined grey PVC barrel for the open reed calls. I wanted these to be great performers but cost effective at the same time. The result was a great sounding call that looks pretty cool, and is tough as nails.
These will have black toneboards, matte grey body with a (hopefully) new decal at some point. I plan to make a few different models , including an enclosed reed call, so I will post them up soon.
