Fun to make...simple cottontail screamer...Circe style.

This is the first one of this style. Ive always liked the scalloped lip rest of those old calls, along with the simple shape. Ive added a coaxer to the barrel of mine, and the internals are the same as my other wood enclosed reeds. This one aint perfect...the coaxer reed is not perfectly inline with the lip rest, its a tiny bit off center. I built a couple of jigs to line things up but looks like Ill have to tweak em a little. All in all though, it turned out perty good. Might post it for sale?

Lately Ive had a bunch of guys asking for the old Delrin line of calls I made for years and discontinued a few years ago. I stopped making them because I just didnt have the time to devote to them. I use my personal set all the time and got to thinking maybe I could bring some of them back just for kicks, but in a different form that made more sense to build for the price point I was after.
So, I got to tinkering in the shop the other day and decided that I still enjoy working with the plastic stuff, and maybe I could bring these calls back on a limited basis, so I made a few prototypes just to knock the rust off. I decided that I would use my handpoured toneboards assembled into a machined grey PVC barrel for the open reed calls. I wanted these to be great performers but cost effective at the same time. The result was a great sounding call that looks pretty cool, and is tough as nails.
These will have black toneboards, matte grey body with a (hopefully) new decal at some point. I plan to make a few different models , including an enclosed reed call, so I will post them up soon.
